‘Tributaries’: Haiku, Senryu, and Art by Shamayita Sen

Tributaries - Shamayita Sen

‘whirring ceiling fan / performing Kathak tarana in solitude’

- Shamayita Sen

shattered glass ~

a child shores pieces

of a bombed city

*

storm clouds…

whispering stories to

my five year old

*

whirring ceiling fan

performing Kathak tarana in solitude

*

the rising Sun: my mother’s bindi

*

ants in a frenzy ~

dispersed refugee

colonies

*

first movie outing

her fingers graze mine

in a popcorn tub

*

rumbling sky:

a hungry child wails

on the side-walk

*

Marigold Field - Shamayita Sen

dandelion—

a child blows wishes to the wind

*

October evening—

her fingers knit wool

relentlessly

*

winter sun—

Baba’s fading shadow

on the wooden floor
