Mussoorie Writers: Stephen Alter reads from THE RATABAN BETRAYAL
The Chakkar will occasionally feature special videos made for Mussoorie Writers with permission on our website. Here is ‘Book Bytes’, featuring Stephen Alter reading from his 2016 novel, The Rataban Betrayal
"She didn't flinch. Her pistol was raised as well, it's snub-nosed barrel staring straight at him with blunt finality.”
Based in Landour, Mussoorie, Stephen Alter is an award-winning author of twenty books of fiction and nonfiction, and the founding director of the Mussoorie Mountain Festival. The Rataban Betrayal is an espionage thriller based in the Himalayan heights of Mussoorie and the Tibetan border. In this short ‘Book Bytes’ clip, Alter reads a brief excerpt from the novel and explains how the mountains aided the inception of one of the most unique books he’s ever written.
